Disorganised, Late and Dirty
2*
We used Ebus to get from Vancouver (Pacific Station / VANPS) to Kelowna (Airport - YLW) as, to be fair, it was much cheaper than a plane ticket, and it allowed us to take luggage for free. This service was worse than we expected however, even when Ebus is supposed to significantly better companies like Greyhound.
Firstly, most of the process was entirely disorganised. From booking, which should be simple enough but is laid out in very confusing terms on their website, to boarding at Pacific Station where sign posting completely contradicts what the employees tell you, to the service itself where, for example, we waited an extra 10 minutes at a stop for a 'missing passenger'... it turned out the passenger was correctly supposed to disembark but the driver had not made a note of this.
Secondly, the bus was late to arrive into Kelowna by almost an hour; a 5 hour 40 minute journey was closer to 7 hours. The bus departed about 5 minutes late, then was stuck in traffic which should have been anticipated, and it still stopped at most stops for more than the time allocated bearing in mind we were already behind schedule.
Thirdly, some of the passengers were not the greatest companions, not entirely the fault of Ebus, but still some of the clientele were awful; the bus stank of marijuana, it was nauseating, there were also a few passengers that clearly didn't know how to function in society, completely disrespectful. The seats were also a bit dirty.
In conclusion, was it worth the $67.48CA ticket price we paid EACH?; Definitely not when we compare it to, for instance, the far cheaper and more pleasant Megabus journey we had in the U.S. in California. I definitely wouldn't recommend it, I would probably pay extra and fly next time, or, where possible, just rent a car.
