Damp, cold & dark... still awesome!
5*
Despite visiting on a horrendous day, we still enjoyed our experience at Lynn Canyon, topped off by this suspension bridge. We decided to visit Lynn Canyon as apparently the Capilano Suspension Bridge costs money, whereas Lynn Canyon is completely free. We had to get public transport to get here, we got the number 240 & 228 bus which dropped us off north of the bridge and we walked through the park to get to the suspension bridge. The park is quite spectacular and 'fairly' well maintained (there was a path we came across which had evidently been eroded by heavy rains). I wasn't expecting much from the bridge itself, coupled with the fact that I was soaking and cold I believed it would have to be quite spectacular to interest me... but it was, hence the 5 star review! Either side it disappears into thick forest, so when you're on it it looks really odd, but equally when you approach it you cannot appreciate the full view until you are almost 1/5 of the way across. It wasn't busy when we visited (obviously because of the weather) so we got some fantastic photos. I liked how it felt completely safe and secure but there was still a bit of 'bounce' when you walked across so it gave it that little bit more of an edge and confirmed you were truly walking on a small wooden bridge held up by ropes high over a canyon. And not to forget the Canyon, this was stunning too, there were some great waterfalls and a raging river of water with spray rising from it. In conclusion, if I was re-visiting Vancouver then I would definitely take others to see this bridge, I just hope that the weather would be nicer!
