Great Accessibility
4*
Having been skiing in the Alps many times I was surprised at how accessible this resort was in comparison to other ski resorts. We were actually staying with family in Kelowna and originally had no intention of visiting Big White, however they booked a place for the weekend and seeing as it was no more than a 40 minute drive from Kelowna we were more than happy to go! If you were arriving at the airport (YLW) it would probably take no longer than an hour, and the route up is perfectly fine (unless there has been extensive snowfall).
The chalet we stayed in was excellent and the staff keep the paths and general area very well maintained; clearing paths before sunrise and ensuring everything is clean. The village is very nice as well, we ate at Snowshoe Sam's which had good food and good service, and we visited the Village Centre in the evening for a children's event as we were with family, and they were serving popcorn and candy floss free of charge, and had plenty of free entertainment for the kids.
In terms of skiing, there appeared to be a great number of routes all easily accessible via the chairlifts, and plenty of instructor-led classes where any ability is welcome and can practice and learn. We went tubing which was great fun and very relaxed while still being safe which I greatly enjoyed! The snow depth when we visited (early March) was also beyond adequate, there were no bare-patches/dirty-snow etc.
This is a ski resort I would certainly like to return to in the future, both for the skiing and entertainment aspect, but also because the staff (most of whom seemed to be Australian) were awesome
